About Us

Our Story

Delightful. Colourful. Playful.

It started with a moment.

Standing in a fabric shop, surrounded by bolts of Shweshwe in every colour imaginable, something just clicked. I could picture it immediately. I saw children. Running, laughing, playing, twirling, living their best lives in these brilliant, bold prints.

That vision became Minilu Kids.

I started sewing.

One woman. One sewing machine. One big dream.

Minilu Kids is a one-woman operation, run with love from my home in South Africa. Every single piece is cut, sewn and finished with the same care as the one before. There is no factory, no production line. Just a deep commitment to make something beautiful, something that lasts, something worth passing down.

Shweshwe is not just a fabric. It is part of our heritage. A 100% cotton textile with a history as rich as its colours. It washes beautifully, dries so quickly and gets softer with each wash. the colours do not fade It is made to be lived in.

My granddaughters are my inspiration.

When I imagine who I am sewing for, I think of them. So curious, so spirited and full of life. I want every child who wears a Minilu piece to feel the same joy. To feel seen (and they definitely will be) To feel special. To feel bold.

This is not a fast fashion.

Each garment is made to order with intention and care. When your order arrives, it has been touched by the same hands that crafted it, packed it with love, with a handwritten note and a little something extra, because that is just how we do things here.

Thank you for supporting a small South African business with a very big heart 💖
